A bridge reborn

The Mahatma Gandhi Setu over the river Ganga has supported Bihar’s economy for a long time. It was inaugurated in 1982. With a sharp upswing in economic growth in recent years, the bridge has seen a surge in vehicular traffic.

Since the initial superstructure of the bridge was not designed to accommodate this volume, Bihar government took the bold decision to renovate the bridge’s weakening superstructure in its entirety. The work is carried out by Afcons.
